In Baden-Württemberg - just around the corner of Stuttgart - you can find some of the most beautiful castles in Germany. Wealthy families, kings and knights left behind these unique places.
The castle of Hohenzollern is located at the Schwäbische Alb on top of Mount Hohenzollern 234 m (768 ft) above the towns of Hechingen and nearby Bisingen. The castle was first constructed in the early 11th century. Hohenzollern castle is still privately owned. Two-thirds of the castle belong to the Brandenburg-Prussian line of the Hohenzollern, while one-third is owned by the Swabian line of the family.
Lichtenstein castle is a castle situated on a cliff with a spectacular view located near Honau on the Swabian Alb, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The castle is still owned by the Dukes of Urach, but is open to visitors. The castle contains a large collection of historic weapons and armour.
